Quality materials are built to last a lifetime. We use hardwoods that are strong and resilient for our foundations.

ORGANIC MATTERS

At Avocado, we only use GOTS-certified organic certified cotton, meeting the social and environmental expectations governed by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

ORGANIC WOOL

We use two GOTS-certified organic needle-punched wool layers in our Luxury Plush Foundation, sourced from the Himalayas. The wool dampens any sounds or vibrations and adds comfort and support. While some companies use synthetic, potentially toxic flame retardants, we use renewable, organic wool. Wool, besides being breathable and thermoregulating, is a natural fire retardant.

CLIMATE NEUTRAL CERTIFIED

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. Through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable climate solutions.

ZERO WASTE

Avocado is always seeking innovative ways to be more sustainable - while never compromising the luxury feel of our products. In 2022, by being intentional about our materials and manufacturing, we expanded our production facility footprint from two to five while still increasing the amount of waste we diverted from landfills by 9%, achieving an overall waste diversion rate of 78%. Our goal is at least an 80% diversion rate. Read more about Project Zero Waste .

We craft our Luxury Foundation in Avocado s GOTS-certified organic facility in Los Angeles. Layers of GOLS-certified organic coconut husk pads and plush GOTS-certified organic cotton, wool, and silk ensure unparalleled breathability and sustainability. A solid wood frame with more than 100 internal metal supports evenly distributes weight. Use our Luxury Plush Mattress on your existing bed or our optional black Metal Bed Frame , sold separately. Note that the foundation does not have feet.

Solid Wood	Hardwoods are stable, durable, and resilient; ours come from responsibly managed sources.
GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton	For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certfied organic cotton canvas in a soft, natural color on the top and bottom panels. Responsibly and ethically sourced from India. Our organic cotton has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (15.HIN.75800, Hohenstein HTTI).
GOTS-Certified Organic Wool	The benefits of wool s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture and acts as another all-natural fire barrier. It s breathable, non-allergenic, and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. At Avocado, we add two layers of pure, GOTS-certified organic needle-punched wool. We do not blend rayon, polyester, or flame retarding chemicals with our wool.
GOLS-Certified Organic Coconut Husk Pad'	We use a 1/2-inch layer of D80, GOLS-certified organic coconut husk pad, which adds breathable support, keeping the mattress - and you - cool.
Metal Supports	Internal metal supports provide even weight distribution to your mattress. Our metal supports are made in the USA from recycled steel that is melted and poured in Sterling, Illinois.
California Residents	We operate an FSC®-certified woodshop - in a facility completely separate from our mattress factory in Los Angeles - which produces wood dust. Read California's required Proposition 65 warning for wood dust.
